Spring concert 2017

The London Ripieno Society will be performing Mozart’s Requiem as a lunchtime concert at St Sepulchre’s Church, Newgate Street, London EC1A 2DQ on April 6th at 1.10pm.

Conductor: Geoffrey Hanson       Organist: Jon Dods

The concert is free but there will be a retiring collection.

Our First CD!

We are proud to announce that we have recorded some choral works written by our musical director Geoffrey Hanson: Now Welcom Summer, Jubilate Deo and Orpheus. Also on the CD are two of his orchestral works, Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra and Odyssey for Cello and String Orchestra played by the London Mozart Players.

December Concert 2016

The London Ripieno Society will be putting on a lunchtime concert at St Sepulchre’s Church, Newgate Street, London EC1A 2DQ on December 16th at 1.10pm. The programme will include Bach’s Jesu, Meine Freude and some works by Gerald Finzi, as well as some Christmas carols.

The concert is free but there will be a retiring collection.

Autumn concert 2016

As part of the East Finchley Arts Festival at All Saints’ Church, Durham Road, London N2 9PJ, we shall be performing on 13th October 2016 at 7.30pm. Included in the programme is

Spring concert 2016

An evening concert at 7.30pm 21st April 2016 at All Saint’s Church, Durham Road, East Finchley, London N2 9DP. We will be performing Geoffrey Hanson’s Requiem Brevis and Now Welcom Somer, Liszt’s Missa Choralis and Rheinberger’s Stabat Mater.

We are working towards making a CD of some of the music of Geoffrey Hanson in association with the London Mozart Players. This is being financed by contributions from present and former members of the Society and many friends.

The 20th East Finchley Arts Festival will take place from Saturday 8th to Sunday 16th October 2016.

 

2015 Events Programme

We have the following events coming up in 2015:

  • An informal concert on July 9th with a mixed programme of part-songs and madrigals.
  • A Scratch Messiah as part of the East Finchley Arts Festival on Sat Oct 3rd which you are invited to take part in.
  • A Christmas Concert Friday Dec 11th Lunchtime at St Sepulchre’s Church, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1A 2DQ. Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Finzi’s In Terra Pax and some carols.

Spring Concert 2015

Our Spring Concert will be held on March 27th 2015 at 1.10pm at at St Sepulchre’s Church, Newgate Street, London EC1A 2DQ.

We will be performing Liszt’s Missa Choralis and the premier of Geoffrey Hanson’s Requiem Brevis.

Spring Concert

The London Ripieno Spring Concert will take place at 7.30 p.m. on THURSDAY 10 APRIL 2014 at St Sepulchre’s Church.  The programme includes the Requiem Mass of Maurice Duruflé, the Stabat Mater of Josef Rheinberger, and Anton Bruckner’s Motets.

Tickets are priced at £10 (concessions £8) and seats are unreserved.  Tickets may be purchased online through Ticketsource, or by contacting the Treasurer at marybee2@aol.com (tel. 0207 724 2046), or at the door on the night.

Christmas Concert

Our next performance will be a lunch hour concert of Christmas music at St Sepulchre’s Church on Friday 13 December from 13.00 to 14.10.  The varied programme includes works by Tallis, Buxtehude and Vaughan Williams, as well as traditional carols.

Rehearsals are in the Henry Wood Room at St Sepulchre’s Church, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1A 2DQ.  St Sepulchre’s is the National Musicians’ Church, situated at the junction of Holborn Viaduct and Giltspur Street, opposite the Old Bailey and also opposite the City Thameslink station.  The church is midway between Farringdon tube station (Hammersmith & City) and St Paul’s tube station (Central), and there are several buses also which will take you to St Paul’s.  Metered parking is available nearby.  Come along and join in!
